Canadian supplier launches omega 3-6-9 oil from ancient oilseed species

Canadian oil supplier is hoping to make a splash in the omega oils market with the launch of an oil derived from a rediscovered ancient seed known rich in omega 3-6-9.  Camelina sativa is an oil-bearing plant perfectly suitable for use not only as food but as an excellent overall source of both heart-healthy omega-3 fats and powerful antioxidants. With a nutty and almond-like aroma and flavor, Biodroga is aiming the oil to compete with products such as flax oil softgels. Cold-pressed and filtered without any additional processing, the company is confident to serve 15-20 tons of Camelina oil to be sold in North American markets in 2014.
