Alzheimer’s News Points to Omega-3s’ Promise
Omega-3s haven’t helped advanced cases, but new finding points to omega-3’s promise. Population studies link higher fish intake to lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other forms of dementia; showing that omega-3s prompt immune-system cells to provide prevention potential benefits in Alzheimer’s patients’ brains. However, researchers note that studies on the effects of omega-3 fatty acids in people with mild or age-related cognitive impairment decline, merits further evaluation. It seems likely omega-3s is limited to delaying Alzheimer’s disease … and only if a person’s diet is rich in omega-3s for decades in advance of any obvious symptoms. That hopeful hypothesis fits with newer evidence as a Swedish study sees encouraging effects:
