CRN says 2015 dietary guidelines should include supplements

Research finds that almost all Americans still fall short of the estimated average requirements for essential nutrients. The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) says 2015 dietary guidelines should include supplements as a low-cost and low-calorie way to fill key nutrient gaps in most American diets. CRN’s response was due to the evidence that supports the use of a MVM as an effective way to achieve nutrient adequacy when recommended nutrient intakes are not first met through food. Inefficiences in fiber, potassium, calcium, iron, folate, vitamin B-12, and vitamin D, for specific population group, is enough to cause “public health concern.”
