Stop Craving Sweets? Spinach Could Help

How does spinach help stop cravings for sweets? A three-month study involving overweight women, aged 40 to 65 years, concluded that the suppression of sweet taste may be coming from a spinach ingredient’s appetite-suppressing effect from the release of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), a hormone that plays a major role in appetite control. This revelation coincides with Greenleaf Medical presenting the outcome of a new clinical trial on appetite suppression effects. It appears that Appethyl, a proprietary spinach-derived ingredient can modulate GLP-1. Appethyl was the number one selling nutraceutical in the largest food store chain in Sweden, just within weeks of its launch.
