Vegetarian Softgel Manufacturing

With an increased demand from the industry for vegetarian softgels, it is important to consider all aspects of the softgel manufacturing process. We at Captek have spent a great deal of time ensuring that our manufacturing, quality assurance and production processes are as effective, secure and cost-efficient as possible.

In fact we got involved in vegetarian softgels because we were initially looking for a way to provide softgels that would be heat resistant and handle humidity – the very temperature situations that animal-based gels cannot tolerate. In hot and/or humid conditions, animal-based gels can clump, leak and melt during shipping – all things that Captek and our customers want to avoid.

Thanks to our research into how to prevent this from happening, we learned more about how best to manufacture the best vegetarian softgels available. By making use of carrageenan, a naturally occurring and sustainably sourced vegetarian ingredient, Captek now has a softgel that withstands temperature fluctuations.

An extra bonus for the manufacturing side of vegetarian softgels is that these gels can be dyed in exactly the same manner as animal-based gels. This means that this aspect of the softgel manufacturing process does not need to be modified – making things easier for those responsible for the quality assurance and production processes.  At Captek we’re using heat stable annatto, lycopene and chlorophyll as our vegetarian softgel colorants.

Our clients are happy to be able to provide their customers with the supplements that they need to maintain a healthy vegetarian lifestyle. These vegetarian softgels are filled with lower viscosity pastes such as CoQ10, ubiquinol, astaxanthin and algae oil.

As always, if you have any questions about Captek, the manufacturing process, or want to learn more about our vegetarian softgels – don’t hesitate to email us or contact one of our company representatives.
